Description:

Georgia Fevertree is a small tree that can grow up to 15 feet in height with leaves up to 7 inches in length. Its leaves are opposite and pubescent beneath with appressed venation. Georgia fevertree flowers in May and June producing very distinctive pink flowers with an appearance similar to poinsettia (Auburn University 2004).

Habitat:

Georgia fevertree inhabits low wet woody areas, usually on acidic soils (Auburn University 2004 and Radford et al. 1968).

Range:

A Monotypic genus endemic to southeastern United States coastal plain (NatureServe 2004). The species may be found in south Georgia, central Florida panhandle, and northeast Florida (Athenic Systems 2004).
